Shimla DC Directs Identification of Black Spots for Road Safety Measures

Shimla, Sept 9 : Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap directed the Public Works Department to prepare a list of black spots in all sub-divisions of the district so that financial provisions can be made for their improvement. He was chairing the District Road Safety Committee meeting, where detailed discussions were held on road safety challenges.
The DC instructed the police to provide subdivision-wise road accident data for targeted interventions. Departments were directed to strengthen traffic management, install proper road signs and warning boards, and enhance public awareness.
Road Safety Park to be Built in Shimla School
A road safety park will be set up in a Shimla school where students from other schools can also learn about safe road practices. Road signs will be installed at city entry points and key locations, while rallies and awareness camps will be organized across the district.
Mega Blood Donation Camp at Ridge
A mega blood donation camp will be organized at Shimla’s historic Ridge to ensure availability of blood for accident victims, while spreading the message of road safety.
GPS in All Ambulances
The DC also said efforts will be made to link all government and private ambulances with GPS for quick response in emergencies. Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance with safety norms.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma, RTO Anil Sharma, DSP Shakti, and other committee members.
