Shimla, March 28: Rohit Thakur, the election in-charge for the Shimla parliamentary constituency and the Education Minister, urged party district presidents and prominent organizations to gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state, emphasizing the necessity to win the Shimla parliamentary seat this time around. He stated that the Shimla parliamentary constituency remains a stronghold for the Congress party.
Addressing a meeting of district presidents and prominent organizations’ leaders at the Pradesh Congress office in Rajiv Bhavan today, Rohit Thakur remarked that the BJP MPs in this constituency have remained far from the public during their tenure, and people have even forgotten their faces. He accused them of now seeking votes from the public during election time after being absent for the past five years. He claimed that their tenure did not contribute to any development in the region.
Thakur emphasized the crucial role of district presidents and prominent organizations within the party structure, stating that they must work closely with all block presidents. He stressed the importance of direct engagement with booth level officers (BLOs) across all blocks. He further added that it was essential for the party’s leaders and officials of prominent organizations to maintain close coordination. Thakur highlighted the achievements of the Congress-led government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, particularly in fulfilling its promises to employees by providing them with the guaranteed payment of ₹1500 along with their salaries.
Thakur emphasized that the upcoming by-elections in the state are a significant test for everyone, and success is imperative. He asserted that the by-elections in the state belong to the BJP. He accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the Congress government in the state out of greed for power and warned that the BJP would pay the price for its actions in these elections. Thakur expressed confidence that the Congress would wave its victory flag on all seats in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He claimed that people have seen the real face of the BJP and would witness its definitive defeat in these elections.
Thakur also criticized the BJP for allegedly creating a situation akin to an undeclared emergency in the country, where misuse of investigating agencies is rampant. He predicted that the election bonds would expose the BJP’s biggest scam in the country.
