Shimla Administration Gears Up for Snowfall; DC Orders Rapid Response and Coordination

Shimla, November 10, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap directed all departments to ensure quick response during snowfall so that no resident faces inconvenience. While reviewing preparedness in a meeting, he stressed that immediate action and strong coordination are crucial during emergencies. He instructed officials to remove long-parked vehicles along the highway from Shoghi and conduct machine trials for snow clearance.

The DC also asked the Fire Department to issue advisories against sleeping with angeethis and to ensure proper shutdown of electrical appliances. Heritage building audits and tourism advisories have also been mandated.

All SDMs have been told to conduct meetings in their areas, coordinate with Army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and ensure stock of ration, LPG, diesel, and essential medicines. Power and water supply agencies have been directed to maintain uninterrupted services and repair damaged schemes promptly.

Ambulance chains, disposal of expired medicines, and readiness of emergency routes have been prioritised. The district’s emergency helpline 1077 will operate 24×7.

HRTC drivers have been advised not to take risks during snowfall. Shimla has been divided into five sectors with nodal officers assigned to each, and key routes have been identified for priority snow clearance.
