Shimla Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Mining

Shimla, 1st February 2025: The Shimla district administration has intensified its efforts to curb illegal mining, with Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap issuing strict directives to concerned officials. During a meeting at Bachat Bhawan Auditorium, Kashyap instructed all officers to issue challan books for effective action against illegal mining activities.
He emphasized that both the police and district administration have the authority to penalize offenders and must exercise these powers without delay. Officials were also directed to ensure necessary permissions for private land development and take immediate action against violations. Illegal dumping was another key concern, with authorities instructed to stay vigilant and curb such activities proactively.
Shimla Superintendent of Police, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, assured full cooperation from the police in tackling the menace. The Mining Officer provided an update on ongoing mining activities in the district. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, DSP Amit Thakur, and other officials.
