Palampur, Apr 22 – Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and former Union Minister Shanta Kumar said on Friday that the ongoing debate regarding same-sex marriage in the Supreme Court has reached an interesting and very worrying point. He said that if the Supreme Court gives recognition to same-sex marriage, then the religious and spiritual thought of India which has been formed for millions of years will get a big blow.
He said that Chief Justice Shri Chandrachud ji made a remark that the relationship between man and woman is not only physical and there can also be mutual emotional love in relationships.
Shanta Kumar said that a man can connect with another man not only physically but also emotionally. He said that the arguments against same-sex marriage are being made by the Central Government. He said that on this remark of the Chief Justice, an argument should be given on behalf of the Central Government that if there is an emotional relationship between a man with a man and a woman with a woman, then they should stay together for life and that too not in one birth but many births together and what is the need to defame the institution of marriage by giving it recognition in the name of marriage.
He said that for millions of years, marriage in the whole world means a man and a woman living together to produce children. He said that the institution of marriage has been going on for centuries. He said that what was given a religious form in India no longer needs to be destroyed.
He said that homosexuals who are intoxicated with materialism openly take out processions, who will stop them from taking a marriage procession from one man to another man after getting the legal recognition of marriage.
He described it as ridiculous sight when homosexuals would be taking a marriage procession.
Shanta Kumar said that I am surprised that all the intellectuals of the country are not expressing their views seriously on this issue . Shanta Kumar asked the scholars that they should convey their view point on this question to the Supreme Court.
