Session on Indian Constitutional Democracy organised

Department of Political Science, Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts, Shoolini University hosted a Special Guest Lecture on “Indian Constitutional Democracy @75” on Friday.

Prof Ashutosh Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Political Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, who has been teaching for over thirty years, was the guest speaker for the day.

The session covered a wide range of topics related to Indian democracy. Indian democracy is a never-ending struggle to live up to our highest ideals and heal our divisions, to recommit ourselves to the founding idea of our nation, as enshrined in our constitution. There are many challenges to democracy today, such as societal division and political polarisation. People all over the world believe that democracy has failed to meet their expectations.

Prof Ashutosh said that democracy works best with consensus and cooperation.

Dr. Sachna moderated the session and introduced the speaker. The talk was followed by a discussion in which participants, including faculty members and students, posed some insightful questions. Dr. Siddarth Dadhwal proposed a formal vote of thanks at the end of the session.
