Hamirpur, October 29. To save the youth and children from the addiction of tobacco products, the sale of these products is being closely monitored in the Municipal Corporation area of ​​Hamirpur.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rakesh Sharma said that the various provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Prohibition of Sale of Loose Cigarettes and Beedis and the Regulation of Retail Trade of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2016 will be strictly enforced in Hamirpur as well. He appealed to all businessmen and shopkeepers within the municipal corporation area not to sell tobacco products without a license. Shopkeepers selling any kind of tobacco product without a license can be fined up to Rs 1 lakh and imprisoned for up to one year. Selling loose cigarettes, beedis or other tobacco products can result in a fine of up to Rs 15,000.
The Commissioner stated that the sale of tobacco products is strictly prohibited within 100 yards of educational institutions. Selling tobacco products to children under the age of 18 is also a crime. Therefore, all businesses and shopkeepers should ensure strict compliance with these rules. Strict action will be taken against violators.
