Science is necessary for global welfare, says former Prof. of IGMC Shimla

On the occasion of National Science Day organized at APG Shimla University, the importance of paramedical science was told to the students.
National Science Day was organized on Tuesday by the School of Paramedical Sciences at APG Shimla University on behalf Dr. Prachi Vaid the head of school. Prof. Dr. Harinderjit Singh, Medical Legal Advisor to Himachal Government (former Professor of Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla and Principal of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Medical College, Nahan) participated as the chief guest in this program based on the theme of “Global Science for Global Welfare” in which students of APG Shimla University participated. Vice -Chancellor of APG Shimla University Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan welcomed Prof. Dr. Harinderjit Singh by Himachali cap and shawl. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Chauhan while congratulating all the students, teachers and dignitaries present in the program on National Science Day, said that this day is dedicated to India’s great scientist Bharat Ratna and Nobel laureate Prof. C.V . Raman as this day is celebrated in the memory of Raman and his outstanding discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’. Vice Chancellor Chouhan said that scientist C.V. Raman’s scientific discoveries laid the foundation of India’s modern science discoveries and his contribution will continue to inspire the present and future generations for new innovations. Vice-Chancellor Chouhan said that the development and increasing use of science has made many activities of human life very easy. “Science is not just a tool for future generations but it is enriching for the welfare of global human life if it is used in the right direction”, said VC Prof. Ramesh Chauhan. While Prof. Dr. Harinderjit Singh in his address inspired the students to adopt scientific approach in life and also advised that real success cannot be achieved without discipline and feeling of public welfare. He expressed confidence that the students of APG Shimla University would become responsible citizens before becoming best professionals, doctors, engineers, scientists in times to come. Prof. Dr. HarinderjIt Singh,In very simple words, inspired and exhorted the students a lot with his statement on the vastness, greatness and omnipresence of science. He told the students about various courses and diplomas in Paramedical Sciences being started from the new academic session in APG Shimla University and about making a career in medical, that there are many opportunities for the youth to succeed in the medical field, but interest for this is required first, passion and scientific approach are also needed. Citing examples of the contribution of personalities like great Indian scientist C.V. Raman, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Michael Faraday, Vikram Sarabhai, Timothy Berners Lee, Manu Prakash, Sanjeev Dhurandhar, Nandan Nilekani, Prof. Dr. Harinderjit said that science is the best which is devoted to the welfare of humanity. “The students studying Forensic Science in the University, with their detailed statements on the techniques related to science, the foundation of great scientists and their scientific approach, proved that how anyone can achieve happiness in their life with a little but correct understanding of science”, said prof. Harinder Singh while addressing the students.
The students of APG varsity proved the importance of science in every aspect of life through several exhibitions put up by promising students in the program organized in the university auditorium. On this occasion, registrar of APG Shimla University Dr. Anil Kumar Paul, chief advisor of the University (former Engineer-in-Chief) engineer Vikrant Suman, Dean Prof. Rohini Dhadela, Dr. Maninder Kaur, Head of engineering department Dr. Ankit Thakur, heads of other departments, executive officers and professors were present. At the end of the program, Dr. Prachi Vaid, head of the school of paramedical sciences, gave a vote of thanks for the successful organization of the program and thanked the Vice-Chancellor, teachers, management team and students of the university along with the chief guest.
