The Education Department has instructed all educational institutions to use urine-based drug testing kits for identifying students involved in substance abuse. Acting on a letter from the State CID, schools have been asked to adopt these kits under proper supervision and protocol to ensure timely detection and intervention. Authorities stressed that early testing can help save many students from addiction and support ongoing efforts to create drug-free campuses. Institutions have also been told to discuss this initiative in PTA meetings and inform parents. The move comes as Himachal witnesses a worrying rise in drug use, with even school children reportedly falling prey to addiction.
