Scammers Send Fake Power and Water Bill SMS to Steal Bank Details

Dharamshala, July 30: Cybercriminals are now using a new tactic to defraud people by sending fake SMS alerts related to electricity and water bills. The messages often contain malicious links that, when clicked, allow scammers to access sensitive information including bank account details, leading to potential online theft.
According to ASP Praveen Dhiman of Cyber Police Station, Northern Range, Dharamshala, although no formal complaints have been filed yet under their jurisdiction, citizens are being warned to remain vigilant against such fraudulent messages.
