‘Say No to Drugs’ Pledge Taken at Awareness Rally in Sirmaur
1 min readNahan, August 27 – Deputy Commissioner of Sirmaur, Priyanka Verma, flagged off a rally under the *Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan* at Nahan Chowgan, urging citizens to take a pledge to “Say No to Drugs.” Students from Government College Nahan, ITI Nahan, Himalayan College Kala Amb, local schools, NCC, and Scouts & Guides participated in the rally which covered Delhi Gate, Hindu Ashram, Bara Chowk, Gunnu Ghat, Mall Road, and returned to Chowgan.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that drug abuse is a social evil that affects not only individuals but also families and society. She highlighted that from August 1 to 31, various activities are being conducted in the district to spread awareness. She urged youth to stay away from drugs and support others in rehabilitation through de-addiction centres, NGOs, and health services.
Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi advised youths not to hide addiction but seek help, and encouraged citizens to report drug-related activities on the toll-free number 1933, assuring confidentiality. Director of Higher Education, Himendra Chand Bali, also addressed the gathering. Students of Himalayan College Kala Amb performed a street play depicting the ill effects of drugs.
Senior district officials, principals, teachers, and officers from various departments attended the event.
