Sarai to Be Built at AIIMS Chamyana for Patients and Attendants

Shimla, Sept 11 – A special meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap was held regarding the construction of a sarai at AIIMS Chamyana to provide stay facilities for patients and their attendants.
The Tulsi Ram Bhagirath Ram Memorial Charitable Society (Sood Sabha Chandigarh) has proposed to build a facility comprising 150 rooms and a 50-bed dormitory. The society will bear the entire construction cost. The DC directed a joint site inspection on September 18, 2025, under the chairmanship of the SDM, after which the FCA process will begin. The design of the sarai will also be finalized soon.
The DC highlighted that OPD services of various departments are already functional at AIIMS Chamyana, and the proposed sarai will provide significant relief to hundreds of patients and their families who currently face accommodation challenges.
The meeting was attended by ADC Pankaj Sharma, District Revenue Officer Sanjeet Sharma, Society President Adarsh Kumar Sood, and other officials.
