Rs. 4.50 crore released as allowances to HRTC drivers and conductors : CM

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today said that the state government has released Rs. 4.50 crore for payment of overtime allowance and night allowance to the drivers and conductors of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). He said that for the last almost three years, the drivers and conductors of HRTC were not paid their allowances, but the government has demonstrated its commitment to fulfilling its promises by releasing the allocated funds.

After a meeting with the officers, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the representatives of various employees’ unions of HRTC had met him last month to discuss their demands, particularly the payment of overtime and night allowances. Keeping its promise, the government has promptly released the funds to provide these allowances. He said that despite the financial challenges faced by the state government, it remains dedicated for making decisions that prioritize the well-being of the employees.

The Chief Minister said that the present government took a significant step by reinstating the old pension scheme, benefiting approximately 1.5 lakh employees, in the first cabinet meeting.   Additionally, the instalment of a three percent dearness allowance has also been released for government employees.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized that the present state government is diligently working to ensure the welfare of the employees. As the state’s economic condition improves, the government is committed for making further decisions that benefit the employees.
