Role of Women in Strengthening Communities Highlighted
1 min readThe HP Council for Science Technology and Environment has celebrated Vigyan Utsav as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on the theme Women in Science and Technology and Science and Technology for Women. Sh. Sat Pal Dhiman, Joint Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE was the Chief Guest of the programme. He highlighted the role of women in strengthening the communities. He also highlighted the significant contributions made by women in improving scientific temper in society, environment conservation and alleviating superstitions etc. He stressed the need for women empowerment through new methods and innovations in science and technology.
Dr. Maninder Jeet Kaur, Principal Scientist and Secretary, Himalayan Research Group, highlighted the importance of science and technology for the livelihood development of women at the grassroots level in hilly areas.
Dr. Kavita Sharma, Principal Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mandi, Sundernagar expressed her views on women empowerment in agriculture for rural livelihood security and Dr. Aarti Kashyap, Associate Professor, IIT Mandi shared her experiences on the topic Women in Science and Technology: Challenges.
Mrs. Priyanka Sharma, in-charge ENVIS conducted the programme. Dr. SS Randhawa, Principal Scientific Officer, HIMCOSTE were also present in the program. More than 50 participants participated in the programme.
