Shimla, July 28: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stressed the need for strong coordination among departments to improve road safety in Shimla, given its unique challenges as the state capital. He was addressing a road safety awareness workshop organized at Bachat Bhawan Auditorium.

The DC highlighted the ‘Rah Veer Yojana’, offering incentives up to ₹25,000 to citizens who help transport accident victims to hospitals. Free treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh is also provided to victims at government-recognized hospitals without advance payments.

Officials were directed to analyze accidents at the subdivision level and prepare localized action plans. The RTO also emphasized the need to reduce road accidents by 50% by 2030.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi noted a 50% drop in accidents over the past 2–3 years and requested more resources for effective first response.
