“Rising Crime a Challenge to Governance”: Anurag Thakur Slams Himachal Govt Over Law & Order

1 min read

Himachal Pradesh, April 13: Senior BJP leader and MP Anurag Singh Thakur strongly criticized the state government over rising crime incidents, expressing concern after the brutal killing of a college student in Mandi.

In a statement, Thakur said that increasing violent crimes have created a sense of fear among citizens, particularly women, and questioned the effectiveness of the current law and order situation. He termed the recent incident as “deeply disturbing” and extended condolences to the victim’s family.

Highlighting crime data, he claimed that over the past three years, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a surge in serious offences including murder, rape, kidnapping, and drug-related cases. He cited figures indicating hundreds of murder cases, over a thousand rape cases, and thousands of total criminal cases, alleging that this trend reflects weakening control over law and order.

Thakur also referred to recent incidents in Una, Solan, and other areas, stating that such incidents point towards growing boldness among criminals. He said the situation is raising concerns about public safety and governance.

The BJP leader alleged that the state government has failed to curb criminal activities and called for stronger action to restore public confidence and ensure safety across the state.
