Retired Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Kanungos and Patwaris to be re-appointed on salary basis in Shimla district.

Applications invited for filling up 3 posts of Tehsildar, 1 each of Naib-Tehsildar and Kanungo and 70 posts of Patwari on temporary basis

The application form must be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by January 31.

Applications are invited from interested and eligible candidates for re-appointment to the vacant posts of Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar/Patwari on salary basis in District Shimla.
Providing information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap stated that applications, along with all necessary supporting documents and/or certificates, must reach the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla (HP) on or before January 31, 2026. Applications received after the deadline or incomplete applications will be rejected without notice. Application forms can be downloaded from the official Shimla district website, http://hpshimla.nic.in .
He informed that in Shimla district, 3 posts of Tehsildar, 1 post of Naib-Tehsildar, 1 post of Kanungo and 70 posts of Patwari are to be filled.
He stated that the candidate must have served for at least five years in any branch of the state’s Revenue Department before retirement and must not have any pending departmental or disciplinary proceedings against them. The retired individual must obtain a certificate from their parent department and submit it with the application form. Additionally, applicants must submit a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital along with the application form. Retired individuals to be appointed must not be more than 65 years of age as of January 31, 2026. A matriculation certificate will also be required to be attached to the application form.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the salary for retired Tehsildar will be Rs 70,000 per month, for retired Naib Tehsildar Rs 60,000 per month, for retired Kanungo Rs 50,000 per month and for retired Patwari Rs 40,000 per month.
He stated that retired Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, and Patwaris will be re-employed for a three-month period initially, which may be extended based on the candidate’s performance and need. If the number of applications exceeds the number of vacant positions, younger candidates will be given priority in hiring for such positions. The service period will not count towards any benefits for service rendered before retirement. The service of such retired individuals will be purely temporary and can be terminated at any time during this re-employment period. Those hired will receive one day of casual leave after completing one month of service. They will not be entitled to any other type of leave. Unexcused absence from duty without the approval of the controlling officer will automatically result in termination of such employment. They will not receive pay for the period of absence from duty. If they are required to go on tour in connection with their official duties, they will receive TA/DA at the same rate as applicable to regular equivalent officers in the minimum pay scale. They will continue to enjoy the benefits of medical facilities and reimbursement of medical expenses as a retired person. The monthly salary of re-employed retirees will be based on a performance/work certificate, which will include details of the cases handled by them. This certificate will be issued to the re-employed retiree by the concerned controlling authority at the end of the month. After the pending revenue matters are completed, the services of the retired employees will be terminated. The re-employment of retired persons will not affect the promotion of existing officers/employees, and the posts filled by them will be considered vacant for promotional purposes. The re-employment may be terminated if regular officers become available.
