Restrictions on gathering of more than 5 people in the district in view of elections: Dr Nipun Jindal

Dharamsala, Nov 10 – District Election Officer Dr. Nipun Jindal said that for the purpose of conducting the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, in the exercise of the powers conferred under section 144, Ban has been imposed in Kangra district, gathering together of more than 5 people and their walk together. Apart from this, illegal assembly and public meetings have also been banned. This ban will be in force from 1700 hrs on November 10, to 1700 hrs on November 13. However, these orders will not apply to other personnel deployed in law and order including Armed, Para Military Forces, Home Guards, Police Personnel, and Guards of Nationalized and Scheduled Commercial Banks. There is no restriction on door-to-door campaigning in the last 48 hours leading up to the elections.
He said that in view of the elections and counting of votes, there will be a ban on the sale and distribution of any kind of intoxicants etc. in hotels, dhabas, shops, or other private and public places in Kangra district.
Along with this, the sale of liquor will also be prohibited in the areas adjoining the state falling within a radius of three kilometers of the polling stations in the district. Instructions have been issued by them in this regard. This restriction will be in force from 48 hours before the polling till the completion of the voting process. Legal action will be taken for disobeying the orders, DC disclosed.
