Reminder Issued to Link Aadhaar for Scholarships in Himachal Pradesh Government Schools

Shimla, January 14: Despite repeated reminders from the Higher Education Department of the state government, schoolchildren in government schools have not yet linked their Aadhaar to banks for scholarships. This has raised concerns that nearly 8,000 children across the state may face difficulties in receiving scholarships.
It is mandatory for students to link their Aadhaar cards with banks for the Central government’s pre-matric and post-matric scholarship schemes. The linking process involves not only linking but also seeding, wherein mapping is done by the Center to identify children eligible for scholarships. However, the issue arises as students have only linked their Aadhaar cards to their bank accounts and have not completed the seeding process, leading to pending scholarship disbursements.
The Higher Education Department of the state has once again reminded schoolchildren to update their information by February 16, ensuring that the scholarship amount is credited to their accounts on time.
It’s noteworthy that every year, the Central government provides scholarships to around 70,000 children in Himachal Pradesh under the pre-matric and post-matric scholarship schemes. However, due to issues related to Aadhaar and authentication, many students miss out on the benefits of the scholarship scheme. The deadline for updating information for all students is February 16, and approximately 8,000 students who have only linked their Aadhaar cards to the bank need to complete the seeding process to avoid missing out on the scholarship.
