Registration of Migrant Workers Made Mandatory in Shimla

Shimla, October 3, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has ordered mandatory registration of migrant workers, street vendors, hawkers, and other temporary laborers at the nearest police station under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Employers, contractors, farmers, and landlords must ensure complete details with photographs are submitted. Verification of antecedents will also be required. The order, effective till November 30, 2025, warns that violations will invite action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
