“RBI Champions Financial Literacy at Jaypee University, SOLAN: Transformative Encounter”
2 min readOn the illustrious occasion of February 9, 2024, the hallowed grounds of Jaypee University in SOLAN played host to a stellar event – the RBI Financial Awareness Program. Orchestrated in collaboration with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at JUIT, the event was a testament to the commitment towards enlightening the academic community.
The distinguished RBI Ombudsman office in Shimla spearheaded this enlightening initiative. The main orators for the day were none other than Shri Shiv Kumar Yadav, the RBI Ombudsman, and Shri Anil Pandora, Deputy Ombudsman. The event was graced by the august presence of JUIT’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academics and Research (A&R), Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Controller of Examination, Prof. Sunil Kumar Khah, and Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Amit Srivastava.
The meticulously curated program, coordinated by Dr. Neena Jindal, with the adept support of Dr. Bilal Khan and Dr. Atul Kumar Singh, commenced with a warm welcome address. The RBI officials received well-deserved accolades from JUIT’s Vice Chancellor and the Dean of Academics and Research.
In a compelling address, the RBI Ombudsman delved into the realm of financial awareness, shedding light on the pivotal Reserve Bank-Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (RB-IOS), 2021. He not only provided invaluable insights into online safety but also elucidated key guidelines and procedures for grievance redressal in the event of banking frauds.
The dynamic duo of the RBI Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman engaged the audience with a profound discussion on the transformative impact of technology on financial landscapes. Their discourse navigated through the risks associated with digital advancements, unveiling the myriad strategies employed by scammers to deceive unsuspecting victims.
With a focus on education as a powerful tool against scams, the speakers shared strategies to combat various online scams and banking frauds. The session was punctuated with real-life case studies, illustrating how scammers exploit human emotions to perpetrate financial crimes.
Shri Devendra Kumar, the Assistant Ombudsman, concluded the event with a gracious vote of thanks. The program, attended by over 250 enthusiastic students, culminated with the distribution of souvenirs, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of the attendees.
