Rakesh Jamwal: Congress Should Worry About Its Own MLAs, Not BJP Cadre

2 min read

Shimla: In a scathing critique of the Congress party, BJP Chief Spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal has called on the Congress to focus on its internal issues rather than the BJP cadre. He highlighted that the state government, despite being in power for just 14 months, has seen six of its long-serving MLAs leave the party.

Jamwal emphasized that the root cause of this defection is the “dictatorial attitude” of the Chief Minister, which has placed a significant question mark on the functioning of the Congress government. According to him, this unprecedented situation in Himachal Pradesh’s history reflects poorly on the current administration.

In response to Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri’s statements, Jamwal advised Congress to be more concerned about their own MLAs and workers. He countered the Congress’s allegations regarding the BJP’s stance on the INR 1500 scheme for women by pointing out the discrepancy in the government’s claims and the media reports from women in Lahaul-Spiti, who have accused the government of misleading the public.

Jamwal asserted that the BJP is confident of winning the upcoming by-elections and criticized the Congress for using transfers to intimidate employees in the Dehra constituency. He noted the transfer of a female head’s husband as an example of such tactics and warned that the Congress government’s own transfer could follow after the by-elections.

Additionally, Jamwal addressed the Congress’s accusations about the central government not funding Himachal’s road projects. He reiterated that the state’s PWD Minister has already confirmed the continuous financial support from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for road development in Himachal, showcasing internal contradictions within the Congress party.

This ongoing political battle highlights the intense rivalry and accusations between the BJP and Congress in the lead-up to the by-elections, with both parties vying to strengthen their positions and influence in Himachal Pradesh.
