Rain-Hit Families in Kumarsain Left Without Relief, BJP Accuses Govt of Inaction
1 min readShimla, Sept 8 – BJP state spokesperson Sandeepni Bhardwaj alleged that despite assurances, rain-affected families in Kumarsain, Odi, Badhogi, Bagail, Chhabishi, and Narkanda have neither received ration nor house rent support from the government. He said families whose homes were damaged were issued notices declaring their houses unfit for living, but no relief or rehabilitation assistance has reached them so far.
Bhardwaj recalled that the Chief Minister had promised rental assistance for affected families, yet the government has failed to deliver on its commitments. He accused the administration of doing “window dressing” while local residents, not the government, have stepped up with ration and aid.
Highlighting farmers’ plight, he added that apples are rotting in orchards as roads remain blocked, preventing produce from reaching markets. He also criticized the local Congress MLA for offering only “casual visits” without concrete help.
The BJP reminded the Congress government of its own special relief package announced for disaster victims — ₹7 lakh for fully damaged houses, ₹1 lakh for partially damaged houses or shops, compensation for livestock and polyhouses, and enhanced support for tenants. Bhardwaj said that till date, no affected family has benefitted from these provisions, demanding immediate action to provide relief and rehabilitation.
