Una, Jan 29, 2026: A serious case of ragging and harassment has surfaced at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pekhubela, where a Class 10 student was allegedly subjected to cruelty by senior students and physically assaulted by a teacher. After the school administration allegedly failed to act on the complaint, the victim’s father has approached the police.
According to the complaint filed by the student’s father, Rajendra Kumar of Gagret, the incident occurred on November 23, 2025. He alleged that a house master, influenced by other students, threatened his son and slapped him. Later, senior students reportedly ragged the boy and forced him to perform sit-ups in front of others. The father said his son had no dispute with anyone and is now mentally distressed following the incident.
The family claimed that the student submitted a written complaint to the school principal on January 15, but no action was taken. They further alleged that even the school counsellor did not intervene. After repeated attempts to seek action failed, the father lodged a police complaint at Mehatpur police station on January 28, 2026.
Responding to the allegations, school principal Raj Singh said he received a call from the student’s father late on January 24. He stated that he was away in Delhi for an official programme and would conduct a fair inquiry upon returning to school. He assured that after questioning students, appropriate action would be taken within three to four days.
Confirming the complaint, ASP Una Surendra Sharma said the matter is under investigation and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
