Radhashtami Shahi Snan to Commence on September 22

2 min read

Shimla, September 14: The schedule for the Manimahesh Yatra has been altered, with the Radhashtami Shahi Snan now set to commence on September 22 at 1:36 PM, instead of September 21. This event will continue until 12:18 PM on the following day. This decision was made during a meeting of the Manimahesh Yatra Committee in Sanchui. During the meeting, the roadmap for the auspicious Shahi Snan and the Manimahesh pilgrimage was prepared.

The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dharm Singh. It was decided that on September 19, the procession will depart from the Triloknath Mahadev Temple in Sanchui village after performing the Chhari Yatra. The Chhari Yatra will stay at Chaurasi for two days, providing blessings to the devotees heading to Manimahesh.

On September 21, at 9:00 AM, the Chhari Yatra will depart from Sanchui village for Manimahesh. Prior to this, a visit to the Chaurasi Temple and the Kartik Swami Temple in Paladha village will take place, followed by an overnight stay at the Hardasari Shiva Temple.

On September 22, the Chhari Yatra will start its journey towards Dal Lake around 2:00 PM, and approximately half an hour later, it will depart from Dhanchho to Bhairaghati. Around 9:30 AM, prasad (offering) will be distributed at Bhairaghati. Following this, a procession to the Gauri Kund Temple and the Shivkarotri Temple will take place. At around 12:00 PM, the Chhari Yatra will reach Dal Lake, and at 1:00 PM, the ritual of crossing Dal Lake will commence. Lord Shiva’s devotees, who are on their way to Manimahesh, will receive blessings during this event.

It is worth noting that this year, there is a unique coincidence where the Shahi Snan (royal bath) during Radhashtami and the breaking of the Dal (a water body) for the Yatra will occur simultaneously. Typically, the Dal is broken on the day after the Chhari Yatra. This year, both events are scheduled to happen together. This allows Lord Shiva’s devotees, who carry the Chhari (holy mace), to participate in the Shahi Snan at the auspicious moment.

The Shahi Snan during Radhashtami will begin at 1:36 PM on September 22. During this ritual, devotees believe that Lord Shiva Himself helps them cross Dal Lake while carrying the Chhari. This spectacle draws a large number of devotees to witness it.
