Purchase firecrackers only from authorized licensed vendors at designated places – ADM (L&O)

Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Shimla Pankaj Sharma said that it has again come to the notice of the District Administration, Shimla, that certain individuals/shops have been attempting to sell firecrackers during the forthcoming Diwali festival without obtaining the requisite license under the Explosives Act, 1884 and the Explosives Rules, 2008.
He said that it is being reiterated for the information of the general public and all shopkeepers/traders that the sale, storage, or distribution of firecrackers without a valid license is strictly prohibited throughout the entire District Shimla. Random checks will be conducted, and any violation of these provisions will invite stern action as per law, which may include immediate seizure of unauthorized stock, cancellation of trade licenses or registration of criminal cases against the violators.
He said that all licensed sellers have been strictly directed to comply with every condition of their license, failing which similar action would be taken against them as well. Besides, the general public is once again advised to purchase firecrackers only from authorized licensed vendors at designated places. Citizens’ cooperation is vital to ensure a safe, peaceful, and environmentally responsible Diwali celebration in 2025.
The District Administration would take strict and exemplary action against any defaulters to prevent unauthorized sale or storage of firecrackers. The sole responsibility of untoward incidents would rest upon those indulging in unauthorized selling, he added.
