Public Gatherings and Protests Banned at 10 Identified Locations in Shimla

Shimla, 04 February 2025: District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has issued an order under Section 6 of the Punjab State Security Act, 1953, prohibiting public meetings, demonstrations, rallies, and protests at 10 designated locations in Shimla to maintain public order.

The restricted areas include:
– Chhota Shimla to The Ridge and Kennedy House
– Rendezvous Restaurant to Rivoli Cinema (within a 150-meter radius)
– Scandal Point to Kali Bari Temple
– Chhota Shimla Gurudwara to Link Road, Kasumpti Road
– Chhota Shimla Chowk to Raj Bhavan and Oak Over
– Chhota Shimla Gurudwara to Satti Stairs and pedestrian path towards Kasumpti Road
– Cart Road to Majitha House Link Road
– AG Office to Cart Road
– CPWD Office to Chaura Maidan
– 50 meters around the police post above the Deputy Commissioner’s office towards Lower Bazaar

The order also strictly prohibits the carrying of objects that can be used as weapons, slogan chanting, and playing musical bands in these areas. However, these restrictions do not apply to police, paramilitary, or military personnel performing their duties.

Considering the urgency of maintaining public order, this order has been enforced with immediate effect and will remain valid for the next two months. Any event at these restricted locations requires prior permission from the competent authority. Violations will be subject to legal action.
