Solan, August 16
Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor and Founder Shoolini University, has been honoured with the Prerna Srot Samman 2025 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The award was conferred by the Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu during the State-Level Independence Day function held at Sarkaghat, District Mandi.
The recognition has been given to Prof. Khosla for his remarkable contributions to the field of education and for his role in establishing Shoolini University as a leading hub of learning and innovation in the Himalayan state.

Expressing his joy, Vice Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla said, “I feel so delighted to share that our Chancellor and my father, Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla, has been honoured with the Prerna Srot Samman for his contribution to Himachal Pradesh through Shoolini University. As Chancellor he has been my boss and also my best boss ever. His vision and grit are unmatched. At the age of 65, he sold all he had to pursue his dream of creating a world-class university in the mountains. Today, Shoolini ranks among India’s finest institutions, and his dream has truly come alive. He is my role model, and will always make us proud.”

Prof. Ashish Khosla, Director Innovations and Marketing Shoolini University, added, “This Independence Day became unforgettable as I watched my father receive the Prerna Srot Samman. Fifty years ago, my parents chose Solan over Austria because of their desire to contribute to a young nation and a new state. Even today, in their mid-80s, they continue to work every single day with optimism and commitment. My father always reminds us that it is never too early or too late to follow your dreams and make the world a better place. I would like to thank my parents for showing us what true courage, commitment, and purpose mean.”
Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla is a distinguished academician, scientist, and institution builder with more than five decades of contribution to higher education and research. An alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Oxford University, UK, he has served in leading academic and administrative roles and earned recognition nationally and internationally for his expertise in plant breeding, genetics, and education reforms.
In 2009, Prof. Khosla realised his dream of founding Shoolini University in Solan at the age of 65. With unmatched determination, he invested his personal resources and inspired colleagues and family members to join him in building a world-class university in the Himalayan region. Against all odds, his vision has been fulfilled, with Shoolini University now ranked among India’s leading private universities and globally recognised for research and innovation.
Prof. Khosla continues to inspire generations of students, faculty, and academicians with his philosophy of karma without expectation. His life reflects resilience, courage, and service qualities that make him a true ‘Prerna Srot’, a source of inspiration for Himachal Pradesh and the nation.
