Private Buses in Himachal to Adopt Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETM)

Shimla, Dec 11: Himachal Pradesh’s Transport Department has issued guidelines for installing Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETM) in private stage carriage buses, similar to HRTC buses. The decision, aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, cashless transactions, and passenger experience, follows a meeting with private bus operators on December 2.

Key directives include integrating ETMs with fare systems, ensuring GPS connectivity, enabling cashless payments, and providing digital tickets via SMS or apps. Operators are encouraged to implement ETMs within two months to modernize the fare collection process.
