Prime Minister of India lays Foundation Stones of SJVN’s 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project, 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project & Launches Ground Breaking Ceremony of 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project

At an impressive ceremony in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually laid the Foundation Stones of 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project located in Shimla & Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh and 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project situated in Hamirpur & Kangra districts of Himachal Pradesh.
Shri Narendra Modi also launched the Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project located in Shimla & Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh.
This historic occasion was graced by Governor of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Union Minister of I&B and Youth Affairs & Sports Sh. Anurag Thakur.
These projects are being implemented by SJVN on Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) basis. Luhri-1 Hydro Electric Project and Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project are on River Satluj and Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project is on River Beas.
Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN stated that in November 2020, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister, 210 MW Luhri-1 Hydro Electric Project was approved at a Project Cost of Rs 1810 crore. The Project is scheduled to be commissioned by January 2026. On completion it would generate 758.20 million units of electricity annually. The project has also been accorded a budgetary support of Rs 66 crore.
SJVN has business interest in generation of Hydro, Thermal & Renewal Power and in Power Transmission, with footprints in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and in the neighbouring countries of Nepal and Bhutan. SJVN is aggressively poised in Business Expansion & Diversification with Internal Growth Targets of total installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by year 2040.
