Preparations Underway to Tackle Snowfall in Shimla

Shimla, 26 November 2024: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting to ensure minimal disruptions during snowfall in Shimla. Departments were instructed to remain active and respond swiftly.

The DC emphasized clearing parked vehicles along highways for smooth snow removal and testing snow-clearing machinery. Fire departments were advised to raise awareness about safe heating practices, while home guards will be deployed from 15 December.

Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) were directed to coordinate with emergency response teams, ensure supplies, and prioritize road clearance to hospitals. Power and water departments were tasked with maintaining uninterrupted services.

Shimla has been divided into five sectors, each overseen by a nodal officer for effective management. Emergency helpline 1077 remains operational for reporting incidents.
