Power Restored in 107 Disaster-Hit Villages of Seraj

1 min read

Mandi, Aug 1: After the devastating natural calamity on June 30, electricity has been successfully restored in 107 out of 115 affected villages in the Seraj region of Mandi district. Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) undertook a herculean task, working relentlessly to bring light back to these remote areas.

According to Chief Engineer Rajneesh Thakur, the disaster caused damages worth ₹16 crore to the power infrastructure. Despite this, 62,800 meters of new lines were laid, and 502 out of 684 damaged poles were reinstalled.

In remote areas where roads were blocked, workers and locals carried transformers—each weighing up to 500 kg—and electric poles on their shoulders across streams and hilly terrain. So far, 36 new transformers have been installed out of 55 damaged ones.

Villagers expressed heartfelt gratitude, joining the restoration teams in navigating terrain, carrying equipment, and guiding operations. Only 8 villages remain without power, expected to be reconnected by August 10.
