Political Turmoil in Cabinet Meeting; Education Minister Walks Out

Shimla, March 2: Amidst the ongoing political upheaval in Himachal Pradesh, a Cabinet meeting was held at the state secretariat on Saturday to discuss more than 50 agendas. However, the headlines were made when Education Minister Rohit Thakur abruptly left the meeting after Jagat Singh Negi, and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri escorted him back. Although regarding this incident, the Education Minister explained that he had to leave the meeting early due to his son going to the hostel for the first time.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur, providing an overview of the Cabinet meeting, revealed that discussions took place on over 50 agendas. Approval was granted to fill a thousand positions in the Animal Husbandry Department with multi-task workers. Thakur mentioned that increasing revenue sources in the state remains a top priority for the Chief Minister. Consequently, tenders will be invited again for the financial year 2024-25.

Thakur further announced that 15 schools in the Education Department would be upgraded. Additionally, 11 schools will be named after freedom fighters, gallantry awardees, and renowned personalities. Among these, Jubbal Senior Secondary School will be named after former Chief Minister Ram Lal Thakur. Furthermore, several schools have been named after historical figures, including Param Vir Chakra awardee Somanath Sharma.

Apart from this, Rohit Thakur stated that district-level fairs held in various regions of the state will now be classified as state-level fairs. These include Salyaran Mela, Haroli Utsav, Holi Mela Jaisinghpur, Kahlur Maharaj Mela, Libda Mela, among others.

Regarding the sudden departure from the Cabinet and returning with the Deputy Chief Minister, Education Minister Rohit Thakur clarified that he had to leave the meeting early as his son was going to the hostel for the first time. The Chief Minister suggested that it is better to complete the agenda and then leave, hence he returned. During this, when asked about being emotional, Education Minister Rohit Thakur mentioned that mountain people are emotional and can quickly get sentimental.
