Shimla, March 2: After the recent cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, the political landscape is undergoing a storm of controversies. Every day unfolds new political dramas. Rajendra Rana, the expelled MLA from Sujanpur who defected from the Congress, has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He has accused the Chief Minister of insulting legislators and spreading falsehoods. Additionally, Rana has directed criticism towards the Congress high command.

In an interview with a media channel, Rajendra Rana claimed that the high command has been made aware several times that the state government is not functioning properly. He alleged that the Chief Minister disrespects elected legislators and fails to perform his duties. Rana asserted that, according to the high command’s observations, rather than a Congress-led government, it is a government led by Chief Minister Sukhu’s associates that is in power in Himachal Pradesh. Despite raising this issue multiple times, there has been no impact on the party high command.

During a meeting with Vikramaditya Singh, Rajendra Rana accused Chief Minister Sukhu of insulting Virbhadra Singh’s family and supporters. He claimed that Sukhu has mistreated them, and this is known to the entire state. Rana emphasized that by refusing to allocate two yards of land for erecting a statue of six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Sukhu has demonstrated his small-heartedness. Rana predicted that there will be significant developments in the near future, and many Congress MLAs in contact with him want this government to fall soon. Regarding the cancellation of membership, he mentioned that the Speaker has canceled it under pressure and they will challenge it in court soon.

Rana accused the Chief Minister of having a narrow-minded approach and putting pressure on the supporters of legislators who engaged in cross-voting, affecting their private business ventures. He stated that he and his fellow legislators will not engage in any compromise with the Chief Minister.

Regarding the Rajya Sabha elections, Rajendra Rana said that the nine legislators who engaged in cross-voting have protected the interests and dignity of Himachal Pradesh. He criticized the worsening state of affairs in the state over the past one and a half years. Rana alleged that promises and guarantees made to the people of the state have not been fulfilled. He also claimed that the Chief Minister’s associates are working, and elected legislators are being insulted.

Rana clarified that, in his 23 years of political life in Himachal Pradesh, he has helped every person who approached him and supported those in need. He stated that the nine legislators have taken this step after carefully considering the Chief Minister’s working methods. He asserted that the high command’s suggestion to remove Sukhu and appoint another person as Chief Minister has not been accepted. He accused the Chief Minister of being the most deceitful Chief Minister in the country.

Rana also stated that the claim of six legislators who defected from Congress to return is completely false. He revealed that many Congress MLAs are in contact, willing to come back, and this government will fall soon. He questioned why police security has been deployed against these legislators and labeled the Chief Minister as a “black snake.” Rana concluded by saying that the people of the state will decide who has protected the interests of the state and who has betrayed it. He asserted that in the past one and a half years, the Chief Minister has reversed the development perspective of Himachal Pradesh.
