Shimla, August 1: The video of apples being thrown into a drain in Rohru, the capital, has heated up the political atmosphere. While the opposition party, BJP, is alleging that the roads were blocked, preventing apples from reaching the mandis, the ruling party, Congress, is calling it a conspiracy by BJP. BJP is accused of indulging in petty politics during the disaster.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, MLA from Jubbal-Kotkhai and a member of Congress, stated that the video was politically motivated. He accused BJP of engaging in cheap politics during the disaster and releasing the video during the visit of opposition leader Jairam Thakur to Jubbal-Kotkhai. He said it was an attempt to tarnish the image of the government. The people of the state and the farmers are well aware of BJP’s intentions, and the farmers also understand the truth very well.
He further mentioned that the heavy rainfall caused extensive damage across the entire state. Landslides have blocked roads in upper Shimla as well, and the government is making every effort to reopen them. The state has not witnessed such a disaster since 1962, and the losses are significant. The BJP IT cell is notorious for spreading misinformation. These are the same people who, during BJP’s rule in 2010, turned over 100 crore worth of apple fertilizer into waste. However, the state government stands with the farmers and is making every effort to ensure that their apples reach the markets.
He emphasized that BJP is the same party that always opposed the buying and selling of apples in kilos. They have always treated the farmers poorly, while the Congress government, as soon as it came to power, established a system for the buying and selling of apples in kilos, bringing relief to the farmers, who are now satisfied.
In conclusion, he accused BJP of always mistreating the farmers and having an adversarial relationship with them, while the Congress government has worked to provide relief to the farmers and establish a fair system for selling apples in kilos, which has made the farmers happy.
