Polio immunization drive to be carried out in Himachal on March 3

Health Secretary M. Sudha Devi chaired a meeting on Friday to review the preparations regarding the immunization programme to be carried out on the occasion of National Immunization Day for Polio on 3rd March, 2024.
Speaking on the importance of the day, the Health Secretary said that the health of children was an important component in making Himachal Healthier and the State Government was working dedicatedly to achieve this. She said that the immunization programme would be made successful by proper micro planning and adequately utilizing the services of the Asha workers and the health workers.
She added that all children upto the age of five would be given the polio dose on March 3 at their nearest Health Centres, booths and mobile teams. The immunization drive would be carried out in 5,870 booths and by 257 mobile teams to give polio doses to the 59,65,170 children, the health secretary said, adding that special focus would be on immunization of children of migrant workers.
She further stated that under the National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP), adult BCG immunization would also be carried out in the state as it aids highly in preventing TB disease. Under the first phase of NTP, adults in six districts, including Bilaspur, Kangra, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmaur and Una, would be provided BCG immunization.
