In a significant boost to India’s energy infrastructure, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today dedicated the first 660 MW unit of THDC India Limited’s flagship 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The event also included the launch of several other developmental projects in the state.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi remarked, “This is a big step towards fulfilling the energy needs of Uttar Pradesh. The power availability in the state will increase, and it will further fuel industrial growth.”
The foundation stone of this mega project was laid by PM Modi in 2019. Now operational, the project marks THDC India Limited’s maiden venture into thermal power generation, showcasing its strategic diversification from a hydro-dominated portfolio to a balanced mix of thermal and renewable energy assets.
With this addition, THDCIL’s total installed capacity has now risen from 1587 MW to 2247 MW. The Khurja STPP reflects engineering excellence, timely execution, and a strong commitment to nation-building.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CMs Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya and Shri Brajesh Pathak, and other senior dignitaries.
