PM Modi Announces ₹1500 Crore Aid for Flood-Hit Himachal

Kangra, Sept 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of the flood and rain-affected regions of Himachal Pradesh, including Chamba, Bharmour, Kangra, and adjoining areas. He later chaired a review meeting in Kangra to assess damages and ongoing relief measures.

PM announced ₹1500 crore financial assistance for relief and rehabilitation, along with ₹2 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. He also assured advance release of SDRF funds, PM-Kisan installments, repair of national highways, housing aid under PMAY, and special support for farmers without electricity connections.

PM Modi met affected families, expressed condolences, and appreciated the efforts of NDRF, SDRF, Army, volunteers, and administration in relief operations. He emphasized quick restoration of infrastructure, water harvesting structures, and school support under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

The Centre assured all possible assistance for rehabilitation and reconstruction, with further support to be considered after the central team’s detailed assessment report.
