A major accident occurred in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district during four-lane construction when a piling machine and its operator were swept away into the Beas River late Wednesday night. The incident reportedly happened after sudden water was released from the Pandoh Dam, causing the river level to rise sharply.
Before the operator could react, the strong current dragged the machine along with him into the river. The operator, a native of Bihar, has been missing since the incident. Early Thursday morning, the administration launched an intensive search and rescue operation. SDRF teams, divers, and local authorities were deployed to search the river and surrounding areas.
Senior officials and police personnel are present at the site, and an investigation is underway to determine whether the construction agency had prior information about the release of water from the dam.
