Physical Verification Made Mandatory Before Issuing New Ujjwala Connections: DC Shimla

Shimla, October 27, 2025: A district-level meeting of the Ujjwala Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, where it was decided that as per the new central government guidelines, physical verification will be conducted before issuing new LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Verification will be carried out by Panchayat Secretaries after KYC completion to ensure the authenticity of applicant details. DC Kashyap emphasized that the scheme aims to promote clean cooking fuel, women empowerment, and health safety among economically weaker families.
He added that each beneficiary receives a financial assistance of ₹2050 for the LPG connection. The scheme not only reduces pollution caused by traditional fuels but also improves the health of women and children.
