Shimla, Jan 08: A shocking incident has come to light in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, where the driver and conductor of an HRTC Chandigarh-Sangrah-Haripurdhar bus reportedly carried a deceased passenger’s body for over 60 kilometers without noticing. The body remained in the bus overnight.

According to the police, 45-year-old Ramesh Chand boarded the bus from Dadahu on Tuesday evening for his village, Dada Khlor, near Sangrah. During the journey, he passed away, possibly due to cold and alcohol consumption. The bus halted overnight at Andheri, 5 km from Sangrah, where the driver and conductor left the vehicle without noticing the body on the rear seat. On Wednesday morning, as the bus returned to Dadahu, the conductor discovered the body after traveling around 64 kilometers.

The police have detained the driver and conductor for questioning. The conductor was reportedly intoxicated, and his medical examination has been conducted. The deceased had boarded the bus in an inebriated state, reportedly after his companion left him there due to the cold.

DSP Mukesh Dadwal confirmed that the body has been handed over to the family after postmortem, and an investigation is underway.
