Painting and poetry competition held under Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
2 min readThe Department of Tree Improvement and Genetic Resources of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni recently organized painting, poetry and poster competitions as part of activities being organized at the university under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The competition was held on the theme ‘Documentation of pre-Independence Scenario and Post-Independence Social Leaders of Socio-Economic Development. The undergraduate and postgraduate students took part in the competition. Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, Dean College of Forestry was the Chief Guest of the programme. All the teaching and non-teaching staff, and students of the department attended the event.
The programme began with a soulful rendition of a patriotic song by Smriti Pathania, BSc Forestry student. Dr. HP Sankhyan, Professor and Head of the department welcomed the chief guest, participants and other guests. He elaborated about the Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme started by the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sanjeev Thakur congratulated the students for showcasing their talent through wonderful pieces of art. The posters and paintings prepared by the students were evaluated and appreciated by the Chief guest and faculty. Dr. Thakur also gave away the prizes to the winners. The best poster award was bagged by PhD student Mohit Kaundal while 2nd year B Sc Forestry student Anchal stood first in the painting competition. Anmol Negi, PhD student bagged the first position in poetry. All the participants were given a certificate of participation. Dr. Jaipal Sharma delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Anita and Dr. Shikha Thakur assisted in organizing the event.
