Outsourced Workers Demand Job Security
1 min readShimla, September 20: During the COVID-19 pandemic, outsourced workers in various departments have demanded job security from the Himachal Pradesh government. While their tenure was extended until September 30th due to the pandemic, the government has now issued termination orders for them, leading to protests outside the state legislature.
The President of the Corona Warriors Union, Anita Sharma, highlighted the risks undertaken by these COVID warriors while providing their services. She stated that the state government had extended their services until September 30th, but they have now received termination orders. She emphasized that they rely on this job to support their families and called on the government to reconsider its decision.
Previously, they had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, but their jobs remain at risk. If the government does not provide a written extension of their services, they have declared their intent to continue with their protests. Anita Sharma also noted that these COVID warriors had even shouldered the responsibility of cremating unclaimed bodies, but now, their own job security is in jeopardy.
