Shimla, Dec 8 – The demand for थे restoration of OPS (Old pension scheme) led to the major downfall of the BJP in the 2022 assembly elections.
During the elections, the OPS employees sent their messages to the voters under the name of Om Prakash Sharma to reject the BJP and vote for the Congress party and that clicked in favour of the Congress party.
Notably, the Congress party had announced in its manifesto that if it was voted to power in the state, it would implement the old pension scheme for the state government employees.
A detailed study of the result sheets of the 2022 assembly elections revealed that the Congress party got more votes than the BJP from the postal ballots and that led to the Congress party getting an absolute majority in the elections.
Reports reaching here say that the Congress party won around ten seats through the votes polled through ballot papers. Earlier, its candidates were trailing but once the postal ballots were counted, the Congress candidates were declared winners.
A spokesman of the Old pension scheme told today that now the time had come for the Congress party to fulfil its commitment as OPS( Om Prakash Sharma) has fulfilled its commitment made to the party for voting them if they were assured that case getting majority this scheme will be revived.
