Opposition Slams Govt Over Health & Education Issues — Jai Ram Thaku

1 min read

Shimla, November 08, 2025: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur accused the state government of insensitivity towards the suffering of people battling serious illnesses. In a statement issued from Shimla, he said that the present government has failed to provide proper treatment even under the Himcare scheme, forcing patients — including cancer patients — to struggle financially for essential healthcare.

He criticized the government for shutting down more than 1,500 schools, causing inconvenience to local students. Citing recent reports from Chopal Assembly Constituency, he highlighted that 116 students, including 28 pre-nursery children, are compelled to study under a tarpaulin after their classroom wall collapsed, with no proper alternative arrangements made.

Thakur alleged that while the government claims to be improving the education system, children are still deprived of a safe environment and basic facilities. He said that the government’s publicity cannot hide ground realities and that people across the state are disappointed with the administration.

Jai Ram Thakur will be visiting Hamirpur and will participate as Chief Guest in a Women’s Honour Programme at Bhareta Ground in Sujanpur on Sunday. He said the present government has betrayed women and failed to fulfil promises made to them.
