One Week, Seven NDPS Cases, Twelve Arrested: Shimla Police Intensifies Crackdown

Shimla: Under its “Zero Tolerance Against Drug Abuse (Chitta)” mission, Shimla Police has intensified its anti-drug drive across the district. Between February 21 and February 28, 2026, a total of seven cases were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 12 individuals and recovery of nearly 50 grams of heroin (chitta).

Cases were registered at Police Stations Chirgaon, New Shimla, Baluganj, and Deha. Major recoveries included 4.53 grams from Chirgaon, 6.560 grams from New Shimla, multiple seizures ranging between 6 to 8 grams in Baluganj, 5.52 grams in Deha, and over 11 grams recovered at ISBT Shimla by the district’s special team. All accused have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway in respective police stations.

Shimla Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the youth and maintaining strict enforcement against drug trafficking. The public has been urged to actively support the campaign and share any information related to narcotics trade. Authorities have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
