Shimla, August 15, 2024: BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, hoisted the national flag at the BJP state office, Deep Kamal, to mark the 78th Independence Day. The event was attended by key party members such as State General Secretary Siddharthan, MP Dr. Sikander Kumar, General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, Treasurer Kamal Sood, Office Secretary Pramod Thakur, Media In-charge Karn Nanda, District President Prem Thakur, Sanjay Sood, and Rakesh Ghai.

Addressing the gathering, BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal extended warm Independence Day greetings to the people of the state and the nation. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unique and inspiring speech on this occasion, emphasizing the need for everyone to focus on their duties. Bindal highlighted that as the central government and its officials fulfill their duties, it is equally important for state governments and the 140 crore citizens to contribute towards making India a developed nation by 2047.

He echoed PM Modi’s call for reforms, urging every individual and institution to implement at least two reforms this year. These reforms, whether in Panchayati Raj institutions, district bodies, municipal corporations, state governments, or social organizations, would cumulatively lead to thousands of reforms nationwide, driving transformative change.

Dr. Bindal also reiterated PM Modi’s stance against family politics, comparing it to monarchy, and stating that such practices are detrimental to the nation’s progress. He further stressed that corruption will not be tolerated at any cost and that development should be based on four pillars: the poor, the youth, the farmer, and women.

Bindal also touched on India’s aspirations to become a global education hub, with initiatives like the revival of Nalanda. He emphasized the need to uphold the Constitution, ensuring equal rights for all citizens. PM Modi’s vision for making India the third-largest economic power and the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code were also highlighted as crucial steps for the country’s future.

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur also congratulated everyone on this auspicious occasion. He lauded PM Modi for addressing the nation on Independence Day for the third time since becoming Prime Minister. Thakur expressed pride in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 and supported the idea of “One Nation, One Vote,” which he believes will save billions of rupees and ensure the country’s steady development.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets, where Organization Secretary Siddharthan offered laddoos to Dr. Rajeev Bindal and Jai Ram Thakur.
