One-Day Farmer Training on “Training and Pruning on Temperate Fruit Crops” at Baagwani Farm, Dhaadha

In a collaborative effort between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Regional Centre, Shimla, and Ambuja Cement Foundation, Darlaghat, Solan, a one-day farmer training program on “Training and Pruning on Temperate Fruit Crops” was organized at Baagwani Farm, Dhaadha.
The event commenced with Dr. Kllol Kumar Pramanik, Training Director, inaugurating the program. Notable attendees included Shri Pradip Kumar and Shri Ramesh Thakur from Ambuja Cement Foundation, Dr. D.P. Walia, Dr. Madhu Patial, Dr. Santosh Watpade, and Dr. Jitendra Kumar, along with technical assistants Baldev Singh, Swaroop Lal, Dipak Negi, and Tilak Raj from ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Shimla.
Dr. Kllol Kumar Pramanik provided valuable insights into the ongoing research on temperate fruit crops and shared information on training and pruning techniques with the attending farmers and horticulturists. The representatives from Ambuja Cement Foundation and ICAR emphasized the importance of scientific nursery management to enhance income generation.
The program witnessed the active participation of more than 30 farmers, who engaged in discussions and hands-on learning sessions. Dr. Jitendra Kumar concluded the training with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and encouraging future collaborations between the farming community and research institutions.
This farmer training initiative aims to empower local farmers with the latest techniques in horticulture, contributing to sustainable agriculture practices in the region. The collaboration between ICAR and Ambuja Cement Foundation underscores the commitment to knowledge-sharing and capacity-building in the agricultural sector.
