Shimla, Oct 28 – Come October 30, thirty-two-star campaigners of the ruling BJP will hit the campaign trail in a no-holds-barred move to rally in all 68 assembly segments of the poll-bound hill state.

The BJP is taking strong steps to win the assembly polls on November 11 and has decided to pitch its top national-level leaders to seek votes.

As per the programme released by the party on Friday, 32-star campaigners, mostly national level leaders including National President JP Nadda will address rallies on October 30, according to Karan Nanda, the media in-charge of the state BJP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address a massive public meeting at the historic Chaugan (ground) of Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district on November 9 two days before the state goes to polls. This seat is important as former Chief Minister PK Dhumal has himself opted out of the contest and has named a former army Captain, Ranjit Singh to contest the election on a BJP ticket.

Dhumal has appealed to the people to vote for the BJP candidates for strengthening democracy and making the nation strong.

He said it was the BJP only that could protect them from the onslaught of the foreign powers and it was seen during the last eight years of the BJP rule led by Modi.

Dhumal said this while inaugurating party offices at three places namely Kuthera, Chabutra and Tounidevi kaswas of the district while canvassing for Captain Singh.

The BJP leader dubbed the Congress party as the party of liars and disgruntled elements.

He said the Congress is a sinking ship and will be no more in the political arena of the state and India after Vidhan Sabha and later Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

He gave details of what the double-engine governments of the party had done for them since 2014 and said whenever the BJP came to power, there was mass development across the nation.

However, when Congress was voted into power all sorts of developments were stalled.

Dhumal appealed to the people of Sujanpur area to vote for Captain Singh and thus avenge his defeat in the 2017 elections. He said he himself left the seat and proposed the name of Captain Singh who was a soldier and a true party worker.

Captain Singh thanked the party’s high command, Dhumal and Union Minister Anurag Thakur for showing faith in him. He said people had seen mass development under the Dhumal’s regime and he will make every effort to accelerate the pace of the development in the area if voted to power.
