Shimla, March 17: A one-day training workshop on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was organized at the divisional headquarters in Shimla, with officials from Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur districts participating.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Anupam Kashyap, who chaired the workshop, emphasized the need for officials to thoroughly understand the technical aspects of the SIR process to ensure accuracy and avoid errors. He highlighted that voter list verification in Shimla from 2002 to 2025 showed 98 percent accuracy, reflecting the importance of meticulous implementation.

The training was attended by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, and IT staff from district election offices. Officials were instructed to ensure that voter forms reach every eligible citizen and that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Murari Lal said that the SIR process has already been completed in 12 states and has now begun in Himachal Pradesh. He urged strict adherence to guidelines to ensure inclusivity and transparency.

The session also covered IT applications used in the SIR process, roles and responsibilities of officials, and strategies for handling public grievances. Further district-level and booth-level training programmes will be conducted in the coming days.
